With the college football season about to kick off, this week’s Pickens Podcast is with a great friend of mine, and a legendary football coach, Lou Holtz, who I pressed and he gave his predictions for the college football championship. Among the teams Lou thinks have a shot (in addition to Notre Dame) are Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Michigan, Clemson, and the University of Washington.
Lou was not only a great and winning coach, he was an inspiration to his players, teaching them more than blocking and tackling, but also teaching them about life.
He is best known as the head coach of Notre Dame and he thinks they’re going to have a pretty good year. “Notre Dame is very talented this year and they’re due,” he told me. “They haven’t won a championship in a while.” On the subject of some Notre Dame players getting into trouble with the law recently, Lou said, “Life is a matter of choices, you try to teach young people to make good choices; speeding, having a gun and marijuana in your car are not good choices.”
I pressed him for his pick for National Champion, but you’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out who this coach, teacher, and leader thinks will win it all.
